AQ Essential Oil - GURJUN BALSAM, LIGHT

GURJUN BALSAM
Gurjun balsam (Dipercarpus turbinatus), Indonesia - Steam Distilled. Gurjun Balsam is an oleoresin exuded from trees of the Dipterocarpus species which grow in various parts of Asia, native to the Andaman Islands and the eastern parts of India. The essential oil is steam distilled from the woods and the oleo-resin (known globally as East Indian Copaiba Balsam), and contains beta-caryophyllene, bicyclic sesquiterpene hydrocarbon, humulene and sesquiterpene alcohol. The remedial properties the oil is known for include as a: diuretic, antifungal, antimicrobial, spasmolytic, anti-ulcer, stimulant, anti-rheumatic and decongestant.

The Gurjun tree is cultivated in India and China as a perfume as well as a therapeutic plant - with its' subtly sweet, lightly woody scent, Gurjun Balsam is popularly used in perfumery as an inexpensive fixative (try replacing precious Sandalwood oil with Gurjun). Therapeuticlly, the oil is used in the treatment of rheumatic conditions, urinary tract infections, skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis, and chronic respiratory problems. Ashwakarna, the Sanskrit name of the Common Gurjun tree, is highly regarded in Ayurvedic medicine - commonly used as a remedy for respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis and chronic cough, for its ability to eliminate excess mucous deposits in the system. Being a diuretic, Gurjun essential oil is regarded as one among the best Ayurvedic remedies to help eliminate toxic deposits in the joints etc. To help treat rheumatic pain, you could try blending 2 drops Gurjun oil into 1ml of carrier oil, and gently massage on to the affected parts. To help treat respiratory problems, try using 2 drops in a steam inhalation. Gurjun is also used in Ayurvedic medicine for skin issues, and may help speed up the healing process when applied topically (avoid using any essential oil on broken skin, and always dilute in another medium before applying to the skin).

AROMA QUEEN PREMIUM ESSENTIAL OILS
Our very special Premium Range is for anyone who appreciates quality: top grade oil & plant species, sought after country of origin, as well as many unusual, exotic and hard to find oils. We have searched far and wide to find the best quality oils - all are 100% pure undiluted plant based oils with no additives, synthetics or preservatives. We do NOT stock 'nature identical' or 'nature blend' oils - these are chemical concoctions of ingredients similar to what is usually found in a plant oil, and as such do not contain the same therapeutic qualities as pure oils.

SIZING
Our 10ml Premium Essential Oils are packaged in Aromatherapy-safe cobalt blue glass with silver cap, complete with top ID label - a necessity for anyone with more than a couple of bottles in their collection. 4ml precious oils are supplied in a small dropper vial. 50 and 100ml bulk sizes are available for some oils, and are supplied in an amber glass bottle - if you require a bulk size and it isn't listed just send us an email and we'd be happy to give you a quote - contact us at [email protected]

If you're new to aromatherapy, or want to stock up on a few different oils, please take a look in our PACKS & KITS section for discounted Starter and Advanced packs.

SAFETY & USAGE
As with all essential oils, our oils must be diluted before application to skin, must NEVER be administered internally, and must always be kept out of the reach of children. Some must be avoided when pregnant (see individual listings), and others should not be applied to the skin before exposure to sunlight. Read the top section of each individual oil listing for warnings and contra-indications on that oil, and also head to our 'LEARN MORE' section for a quick introduction to aromatherapy if you are unfamiliar with essential oils. For anyone starting out we'd recommend even a basic introductory booklet on the subject (see our BOOKS section for a selection of booklets and textbooks).

Always remember, Aromatherapy is intended to complement, not replace traditional medicine.
