DRAGONS BLOOD PIECES - Dracaena cinnabari, Socotra Islands (Yemen)
DRAGON'S BLOOD is a garnet-red resin that seeps from the fruit of several palms of the genus Daemonorops and Dracaena - this version comes from the Dracaena cinnabari from the Yemen peninsular Socotra Islands (see our other listings for premium 'Gold Seal' Sumatran Dragons Blood from the Daemonorops draco). Dragon's Blood has been used throughout the world for religious and magical purposes, and has a rich, spicy herbal scent. Dragon's Blood is believed to purify and protect. Quality natural resin incense pieces presented by quality incense maker Goloka in a larger sized 50g box, suitable for burning on self-igniting charcoal disks - available separately. As you only need to use a couple of pieces at a time, each pack will last for many uses.

WHAT IS RESIN INCENSE?
Resin incense has been used since Biblical days. It is the purest form of incense: natural gums, resins, wood chips and herbs from aromatic plants, used either in pure pellets or in a pre-mixed blend, and warmed with heat (usually charcoal disks or tablets) to emit their fragrance through aromatic smoke. Aroma Queen stocks dozens of different pure gums and blends, in the most divine natural scents to suit every taste. If you enjoy standard stick incense, you are sure to enjoy resin incense.

HOW TO BURN RESIN INCENSE:
1) Light a Charcoal Tablet (available separately in rolls of 10 tablets)
Ignite a charcoal disk with a flame - you can use long burning matches or a lighter; a long-handled refillable BBQ lighter is the perfect tool, and charcoal tongs are also available for safe holding during the lighting process (listed separately). Apply the flame to the edges of the disk until it begins to glow red and spark. After a minute or so the sparks should start to consistently dance over the top and sides of the disk (you can blow on the tablet to encourage it). Once the heat seems to be catching, place the tablet in a bowl of sand or heatproof censer/burner (we have a range of suitable censers listed separately) and leave for a few minutes until the entire disk glows red, much like a BBQ heat bead.

2) Burning your resin
Once your charcoal tablet is burning red hot, add your resin incense a few pellets at a time to the indentation on the top of the disk - resin incense is very strong and it doesn't take much to scent a room with aromatic smoke. As the resin heats and melts, the natural scents will be released through the fragrant smoke. Top up your incense as necessary - each charcoal disk lasts around 20-30 minutes when fully lit, and then falls to ash when spent.

3) Safety
Never touch a charcoal disk once it has been lit, and ensure your burning charcoal is in a safe place, in a heatproof container or burner, away from children or pets as it will be very hot. The tablet should be left to burn out and cool in the censer, but if you need to extinguish it before it is fully cooled then place it in a container of cool water (the tablet will not be able to be re-used). Always allow ash to completely cool before disposing and never leave a lit tablet unattended.

Hints and Tips:
* Try blending several different types of resin together to create your own unique fragrance.
* Always store your charcoal disks in an airtight bag after opening to maintain freshness or they may become difficult to light - a small ziplock bag is best.
* Try using a small square of natural mica as a burning platform between the lit charcoal and the resin to naturally disperse the heat.
* Never use TOO much resin as you may be overwhelmed by the smoke! A small pinch of resin is usually enough to scent a room.
