Omani Frankincense from the Boswellia Sacra tree is typically regarded as the finest quality Frankincense resin available, and finally we have been able to source some beautiful resins direct from Oman. In Oman, Frankincense is usually classified into four types, with resins of lighter colour and larger clump sizes generally graded higher and more valuable. The four grades are based on the four geographic locations in Dhofar from where the trees are grown and the resin harvested. We now stock the two highest grades of Omani Frankincense: 'Hojari' and 'Najdi' grades (each available separately).
The finest quality (first grade) Omani Frankincense resin is known as 'Hojari' Frankincense, and is harvested from the trees that grow in the Eastern part of Dhofar. Hojari Frankincense has the lightest colour of the Omani resins, often with a slight pale green tint, and typically has a larger clump size. The scent is the most luscious Frankincense we have ever experienced.
see also NAJDI FRANKINCENSE (listed separately)
The second grade of Omani Frankincense, also a beautiful quality resin, is known as 'Najdi'. The resin has a pale yellow colour, and is collected from a plateau in the Najd region behind the Dhofar mountains.
The third and fourth grades of Omani Frankincense are 'shathari' and 'shaabi', however we only stock the two highest grades.
If you are looking for the finest resins, these are the best quality Frankincense resins we have ever sourced.
In Ancient Egypt Frankincense was worth more than its weight in gold - it is somewhat more accessible now! The aroma is clean and lemony, with a distinct fresh Frankincense aroma. Frankincense is thought to elevate the mind and expand spiritual consciousness, perfect for meditation, and mixes well with other resins, in particular Myrrh.
